Get To your Ideal Body Weight

By Jason Truelove

Weight loss goals may seem impossible because they are so far out of reach. It is easy to lose motivation from one day to the next. Why doesn't everyone have the same problem? Some people are able to shed pounds and stay fit. What do they do that is different?

It is imperative that you set a goal for yourself when you want to lose weight. Do you simply yearn to fit into your old clothes, or do you actually want to make a huge reduction in your weight? Is feeling better and healthier something you want to accomplish? Goals provide focus and allow you to gauge your progress along the way.

When you keep track of what you are doing, you will know how far along you are in your weight loss goals. Analyzing the results of your plan helps you make the necessary changes to succeed, so write down what you drink and eat - even snacks and soda pop. When you start keeping a list of everything you eat, it can help you choose healthy food.

If you are too hungry, your ability to make good choices will be reduced and will cause you to eat potentially unhealthy items. You can avoid these complications by planning ahead and bringing those foods with you for your meals. Rather than eat lunch in a restaurant, pack your own. You will save money by bringing your own food, and the food you make will be healthier than what you can get from restaurants and fast food places.

To be successful in your weight-loss plan, you need to eat right and exercise regularly. Forcing yourself to work out a few days a week will make sure that you are getting the exercise required to reach your goals. If your schedule makes it impossible to hit the gym every day, then find ways to make your regular activities more demanding. Take a stroll through the park, go hiking with your friends, or roller skate with your children. Whatever you choose, it will get you moving in the direction of great health!

Have your friends support you in whatever way they are able. You are more likely to stick to your plans when someone else is rooting for you. Accountability is important in any long-term weight loss plan, and when you involve a friend or family member, you are more likely to succeed. When you feel like you are not motivated, call a buddy for support. They'll likely know just what to say to get you back on track.
