Terrible Eating Habits Can be Replaced With Good Eating Choices

Most of the choices that we make are governed by our subconscious mind more than by our conscious mind. Much of what we do is done more from a position of weakness rather than from one of strength. When it comes to food this is especially true.

If you were to observe how you behave around food on a daily basis, you would see this to be true. Ask yourself, how often you eat because you are genuinely hungry versus simply eating because food is present. As you continue to read below you will discover 3 significant reasons why you eat what you do and when you do.

Pleasure Eating

Much of our eating is done simply because food is so wonderful. We will all agree that there are some foods that taste so divine and we derive a lot of pleasure from eating them. Generally this would not be a problem but if you are worried about your weight and you have health concerns it is vital that the desire for eating just because we can must be controlled.

Social Comfort

Most of us have been to a restaurant and ordered from the menu even though we have had a meal just before we arrived. Usually this happens at certain celebrations. The reason we do it is because we do not want to be the only one at the table that isn't eating. Someone else might even offer to pay the bill just to get you to eat something. In the end everyone at the table feels ill at ease. However, you need to withstand this type of scenario if your weight and health are important to you.

Stress Relief

We are all guilty of relieving our stress through food. I find it amazing how much happiness a small piece of candy can bring. At times this is not so bad however when eating becomes the primary way you relieve stress, you run the risk of causing irreparable harm to your body. Eating when stressed doesn't have to be a bad thing. The key is to make sure you eat snacks that will enhance your body's performance.

Food is a wonderful thing and is most enjoyed when shared with others but we need to be in control and make the right choices about what we consume. You have to be determined that pleasure, comfort and stress relief will not govern your eating habits any longer. Eating for the right reasons is the way to go but eating for the wrong reasons will only damage your body.
